Job Description: Under general supervision of the Operations Manager, this position performs professional, supervisory, technical and engineering functions related to field operations, plant operations and plant maintenance involving water treatment, distribution and wastewater collection. Maintains records of equipment and updates on a continual basis. Coordinates contractors and Town employees on utilities related projects, including, but not limited to: plant operations, maintenance, water treatment and wastewater projects.
Serves on design development & review teams, representing all operations and maintenance aspects of proposed new infrastructure procurement. Develops plant policies and procedures.  Responds to complex public inquiries and concerns related to water quality complaints. Represents Operations Division in committee meetings. Assists staff with the day-to-day operations and maintenance duties.

Requirements: Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree in physical or biological sciences, engineering or related field; supplemented by five years experience that includes plant maintenance, water/waste water treatment, collection, distribution and cross-connection including at least 2 years of supervisory experience preferably in a municipal water and wastewater utility or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Position: Plant Mechanic I for the Utilities Department

The Specialist will also serve as liaison between the steering committee and state agencies.

Requirements: Degree in Hydrology, Engineering, Natural Resources Management or related field desired, extensive GIS/GPS experience, and five years of work experience in the water or wastewater field desired. Experience may substitute for education.
